ICYMI: Vice President Pence Touts USMCA in Iowa
July 25, 2019
Earlier this week, Trade Works for America hosted an event with special guests Vice President Mike Pence and Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, where they visited Accumold in Ankeny, Iowa, to share how the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will benefit Iowa workers and businesses.
Following Vice President Pence’s visit to Accumold, Trade Works for America Co-Chair Phil Cox discussed the USMCA with Simon Conway on 1040 AM in Des Moines:
“Iowa farmers and ranchers and small businesses need more trade, and they need the USMCA … This is a great agreement. It creates 176,000 jobs. It opens up new markets for exports. Canada and Mexico are two of our largest export markets. Iowa exports more than $6 billion a year in goods to Canada and Mexico, and, as you well know, is the number one producer of eggs and soybeans and corn and hogs and so many other things in the country … Democrats and Republicans in Washington can find any number of issues to fight about, but this should not be one of them. This is a commonsense trade agreement that benefits Iowa farmers and American workers.”
